Last year the board told Smithtown residents in their flyers that their tax increase for the passed budget would only be $297. WRONG. It amounted to about $496. They said the tax increase would be about 4.9%. WRONG. It was 9.9%. Look at your tax bills and see for yourself. The total tax levy was 9.9%. Tell me you are happy with that and the lies they put forth every spring. Their budget increased just over 2%. How does that translate into a 9.9% tax increase. Actually it was closer to 11% if you factor out all exemptions. It was more than just a few dollars more. What's in store this spring???
