Stephen Curtin
Farmingville Fire Commissioner
July 13, 2009
To Commissioners John Caputo, Norman Neill, Robert Wallace and Rob Heller
Dear Gentlemen,
At our last meeting on June 22, 2009 a representative from T-Mobile was
present and we all received a tentative contract for the installation of a cell tower
on the grounds of fire headquarters. I have two major concerns about this
project.
1.) I could not find where it states the height of this tower.
2.) I questioned this contract being signed by only one commissioner who
currently does not sit on the Board of Fire Commissioners any more.
I had the secretary review past minutes and he could not find any minutes
where a motion was made, second and carried to erect this cell tower. As of this
date, we do not know who voted to enter into this agreement.
Before I openly and publicly campaign against this project, I am asking the
board to make a motion and vote to not continue with this cell tower project
at headquarters. I believe the cons outweigh the pros of this project. The
resident who live near the fire house will see their property value decline and the
fire district recently installed a 125 foot tower at station 2 to help improve radio
communications.
If members of this board support this project, then a motion should be
made and carried and a record should be made to continue with this project.
Thank you for your time on this important matter.
Respectfully,
Stephen Curtin, Fire Commissioner
