You deserve to know the truth before  you vote

If this budget passes… taxes will increase by $1,640,042
If the budget fails…….. taxes reduce by $2,947,358
                        That’s a $4,587,400  tax savings. Approximately $200 per taxpayer.

Dear Neighbor,
Most of our families need two working parents to pay the costs associated with living in Sachem. Our children are finding it next to impossible to live here. Our parents are being forced to move to other states. There are many seniors, young adults and low income working families who struggle to live here. We must force the Board of Education to stop overtaxing and misleading us.

Sachem Incumbent Trustees Falco and Tripi are running for reelection. They are endorsed by the Teachers Union and the union should not have negotiators on both sides of the table.  Nor do you need trustees who brag about walking shoulder to shoulder with the union instead of you.

I need your help. We need to raise money, organize, deliver flyers and teach all of our voting neighbors:

1.       When you vote for a budget you are only voting for the total amount of the budget.  Never vote because of a program or line item.  The Board can change them at will.

2.       Education law does not require a BOE to be accurate in their estimations or to use factual information.

3.       A School budget is this year's bad guess based on last year's bad guess, often without actual cost being considered. Sachem budgets are usually under spent (over taxed) by at least ten million.

4.       Reserves are created by under spending (over taxing) the budget by millions and keeping the money rather than returning to the taxpayers.  This year’s budget is under spent by $14.3 million.

5.       The difference between an adopted and contingent budget is the difference between an open checkbook and limited funds. An adopted budget can be changed after the voters approved the budget for unforeseen circumstances such as a new union contract signed a day after the voters approved the budget.. This year the Sachem Board of Ed increased this year’s budget  from $274 million to $277 million. That unforeseen circumstance made a $6 million budget increase look like 3 million and stuck  us  with that increase forever.

6.        A contingent budget limits spending to a specific amount and a Board cannot spend a dime more regardless of how much money they have.
